The Principal Subsea Engineer is responsible for interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices. They will be tasked with solving complex Subsea-related problems and will work independently with minimal guidance. The Principal Subsea Engineer may lead functional teams or projects and is regarded as a specialist in Subsea. As such, they must have in-depth expertise in Subsea as well as broad knowledge of the Subsea discipline within the Engineering function.

Responsibilities

  1. Support subsea and offshore projects, performing design and installation engineering, analysis, and      procurement activities.

  2. Provide expertise in engineering design codes, installation analysis, and subsea systems using      industry-standard tools.

  3. Perform FEED, detailed design, and technical documentation while addressing complex problems and      nonstandard situations.

  4. Manage subsea engineering activities, schedules, and resources, ensuring compliance with project      scope and standards.

  5. Lead small-to-medium teams, directing design execution, managing deliverables, and ensuring interface alignment.

  6. Prepare technical reports, specifications, bid evaluations, and review vendor/subcontractor      submissions.

  7. Perform installation analysis for rigid/flexible pipelines, umbilicals, and subsea structures per      industry codes.

  8. Liaise with third parties, clients, and verification bodies to resolve technical issues and ensure      project integrity.

  9. Identify scope changes, initiate notifications, and provide documentation for variation orders.

  10. Coordinate with disciplines like Fabrication, Planning, and Marine teams to align project execution.

  11. Train and mentor junior engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer and alignment with global      standards.

  12. Conduct constructability reviews, site surveys, offshore visits, and ensure engineering support      during installation.

  13. Assist procurement with requisitions, bid tabulations, and vendor coordination for discipline      equipment and services.

  14. Monitor costs, maintain  compliance with safety/legal objectives, and contribute to lessons-learned      documentation.

  15. Prepare and review design  deliverables, ensuring technical correctness, functionality, and      compliance with schedules.

  16. Act as a project-based point of  contact, ensuring timely communication, interface management, and      performance monitoring.


Essential Qualifications and Education:

· Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering

· Familiar with the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable

· Knowledge of many basic design techniques and analysis methods

· Good organization and communication skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet project deadlines

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

· Minimum 10-15 years of industry experience related to SURF

· Experience related to installation engineering and analyses for subsea infrastructure including rigid pipelines, flexible flowlines, risers, and subsea structures

· Experience with industry-standard software packages for analysis (E.g., Orcaflex, MCS Pipelay, Abaqus)

· Experience with industry-commonly used codes and standards for subsea installation engineering and analysis

· Minimum 15 years' experience as structural engineer,

· Minimum 10 years in subsea structures

· Minimum 4 years' experience as Lead subsea engineer in EPC project

· Handson experience with software like SACS, FS2000

· Experienced in In place, Lifting and installation analyses
